My girlfriend and I are going to be in Durango over Memorial Day weekend and wanted to know the names of some great trails in the Durango area. We will actually be staying near the ski resort. Also, I heard about that at the same time the Iron Horse Classic is going on, is this worth doing, we race/ride both mountain and road?

Telegraph/Crites
Dry Fork/Hoffeins
Sale Barn to Old Car Loop
Log Chutes

The Hermosa Creek Trail will not be ready, but the others that mentioned should give you plenty of riding. Have fun!

The Iron Horse will take you through some of the best trails that will be rideable by memorial.

The expert / Pro course usually runs something like this - Rim Trail to Telegraph to Carbon Junction to South Rim to Crites to Anasazi Descent to Meadow Loop to Cuchillo to Raider Ridge back to Rim trail. It's 30 or so miles of some of the best that system has to offer....

The Junction Creek trails (Junction, Dry Fork, Hoffhein, Log Chutes) may be rideable, but they get a lot more moisture than in town.

I've heard the Test Track area is fun too, but I've never gotten around to riding there.

All the higher-country stuff (Kennebec to CO Trail, Hermosa Creek) will still be snowpacked the way things are looking right now.

Check with the local shops (MTB Specialists, Hassle Free Sports, Dgo Cyclery) for recommendations when you get here. They get out a lot more than I do.
