In Durango for a couple of days of riding and really wanted to ride Twin Buttes since I've never done it. According to Trails2000 the lower trails are closed as of April 14. Is this still true, and if so, can anybody help direct me to getting to the open upper trails? Is it still worth it? Thanks.

I haven't been out there, but last year when they had a closure, you had to do an out and back on it. Some people found a way through and took the road, but I never saw how that worked out.

Most is open. The lower trails that would connect the "loop" are closed, so 3/4 of the way back down the descent (heading (CCW) you'll have to use the connector trail to return back to the parking lot. Rather than a loop, it makes a lolipop.

Thanks for that. Sounds like it is still worth doing. I'm not sure I quite follow your directions. I have the map. What trail names are actually closed? Would I still park at the marked trailhead or somewhere else?

There's only one marked trailhead and it's the one behind the gas station I mentioned above.

I traced the open trails in red. Do this as a CCW loop.
