I just picked up my bike on CraigsList. I'm not bad mechanically, but I'm a bit leery about turning and yanking on stuff without knowing where it goes.

I've been looking online for maintenance info, but since my bike is a bit older (mid '90's), the stuff I'm finding online doesn't look like what I have.

So, looking at the attached photo:

3: are there any adjustments I can make to the shocks? Any lockout? Where should I look for those?

ok, I figured out the brake (the little round pawl was stuck in place, I just pulled harder).

Shock-related questions still apply, though.

There is not much "adjustment" available on your fork. I believe it's a Rock Shox Jett, which just has the right knob to adjust compression I believe. Other than that, it's buy new internal springs, or a new fork.

For sure no lockout on an elastomer shock, but you can probably buy elastomers (rubber bumpers) of different stiffness or maybe even speed springs.

locking out isn't a big deal, I'm just trying to correlate what I'm reading in modern bike manuals to the bike I just got.
