Another question for you guys. I have tried to read as many threads on this subject as possible but still come away a little confused.
I am in the market for an entry level LBS mountain bike to hit the trails with my friends, but I also want to be able to do a lot of road riding with it (nothing serious...but 10 mile runs here or there). I do not have room in the garage for two bikes.
So...the question is this....what is the best way to get a dual purpose out of a mountain bike?
Is it to buy another set of stock 26" wheels and put the 1.5" smooth tires on it? If I do this, do I have to also buy the gear cassette and rotor (if Disc)? Does that start getting pricey? Better to just suck it up and do the road runs on the bigger tires?
I don't want to buy the mountain bike yet until I completely understand what I can do as far as making it somewhat of a road bike as well. I am on a budget. (about 400 bucks).
Anybody out there experienced with this that can give me some advice?
As always...thanks in advance...
