Dt Swiss 370 vs 350 hubs

So, I was thinking about getting a wheel with the Dt 350 hub for the ratchet. I like the simple design.
Happened to check the engagement on my current 370 3 pawl, it's 36 (not bad).
The 350 has 36 now (old ones had 18 I think). I could also get the ratchet ln 18 upgrade thing, but how is 18 points of engamenet an improvement over 36? It might be reliable or whatever, but at least it should match the 3 pawl engagement. Seems a bit of a rip off. Opinions?

It is not the engagement points that's better between the two it's the star ratchet functionality / durability that is far superior to the DT 370 pawl system.

If you really feel that the engagement points are that important you can get the star ratchets in a 54t variety as well.

New DT 370's come with a 36T star ratchet apparently. Mine did at least. I only found out after I took it apart to do the upgrade and realized I had bought all the parts for nothing. I did put the 54T in though.

That is interesting - my understanding was that the 370 was a 3 pawl hub that could be upgraded to the star ratchet.

What bike did you buy that came with the DT 370? Perhaps the manufacturer speced the DT 370 with the star ratchets?
The old 370 was 3 pawl. The new 370 has the star ratchet.
18poe star ratchet was the norm and the 36 and 54 star ratchets were the upgrades from 18.

So the new 370 is the old 350?

And the new 350 is the old 240s?

And the new 240exp is unreliable conpares to them all?

Can you retrofit the OG 370's with the ratchet?

I have a 370 on my road bike that replaced a bontrager race that I blew up. It's been great and I'm happy with it.

I crushed a Nox Farlow/I-9 that I temporarily replaced with a stock DT Spline wheelset that has a 370 hub on my mtb. It started slipping the first ride. Granted that was in Moab where you can lay down huge torque. I currently have two extra full DT ratchet guts. Any chance those would work in the 370 hub?

As far as I can tell the 350 has not changed design one bit. Now comes standard with a 36t ratchet vs. 18t, that's all. This doesn't make it the new 240. That hub was machined to be lighter. Internally, they were always the same.
My 350 came new with 18T (in 2019) and I upgraded to 36T. It's perfect. The 56T can be fragile from my research. The 36T is supposed to be the goldilocks. I love mine and now my cheaper hub bikes feel like they have a lot of play before engaging. So the DT Swiss will spoil you. Also the upgrade is super easy. These guys designed this hub so simple.

Edit: To the original poster, the more teeth gives you better/quicker crank engagement, seems like you had it the other way around. The trade off seems that too many teeth makes it more fragile. My original hub (not DT Swiss) wore out/broke and stranded me so I don't want fragile.
Bumping an old thread, so someone can break it down crayola-style, because it's kinda making my brain hurt.
Maybe a DT hub guru out there?

I'm "less than serious, more than casual" about having a wheelset built, and the builder's config page offers either:
1) DT 350's (2021+)
or
2) DT 370 'LN ratchet'.
The base price when built is literally $5 different.

HOWEVER... If I ask them to upgrade to a 54t ratchet at point of sale, both can be done, but the 370's are like $75 cheaper.
Am I missing something? Is there a reason to NOT go with a 54t "LN Ratchet" 370?
The DT website flash video makes this look like the LN upgrade is literally the famous "old school" double star ratchet".

Ok to bump a not so old thread but you didn't seem to read the last post which answers one of your questions.

I guess I'm dumb. I don't see any mention of a DT370 with the LN star-ratchet mentioned in post above mine.

I'm still confused what the difference is between the LN Ratchet 370 and a stock s350, and why DT Swiss would make them both. They seem to be the same internals.
I'm happy to put away the debate of whats the best PoE, so the 54 vs 36 is a discussion for another time.
This thread isn't even that old. I've brought back threads that were dead for years.

Bump.
I found out my Rovals are rebranded 370's. Hub guts **** the bed, and would be interested in an answer to this as well.

As I understand it, DT realized that the 370 pawl- ratchet was crap, and just made a kit that turns a 370 into a 350. So, you should (?) be able to fix yours. personally I’d just trash those wheels and get something… anything else…I LOATHE all things Specialized. But that’s just me.

Thanks for the explanation. Looks like I have some options to figure out.
Is there any actual difference between the Front hubs in a 350 vs 370? I have a set of E1900's that come with 370s and while i'm fine with the pawl rear (its a gravity bike so see's little pedaling), i seem to have some premature front bearing wear. Could be moisture, could be inferior bearing, or could be the design? 370's seem to be only oem so its not easy to find much in the way of actual details.
