Got a set of Enve Twenty9 XC 29er clinchers built with DT Swiss 240 Cl hubs and I have end caps to convert the rear hub from 12x142 to 10x135. The drive side cap was a no brainer - simply used a QR inserted from the nds and a quick tap and out it came but the non-drive side cap is not as straight forward. Did a search of the forums and while I found a bunch of threads going from 10x135 to 12x142, none seem to have the level of detail I need. With the axle after removed and clamped in an axle vice, I no way to remove the cap other than with vice grips - so what am I missing?

First off, they simply pop on and off. They do not thread on. I have found that I have the best luck with removing the axle, grabbing the end cap with a pair of pliers(padded if you don't want to scuff the end caps) and simply wiggle the end cap in an up and down motion while gently pulling the end cap away from the hub. It can take some effort to get them off, so don't freak about it.

"so don't freak about it." best advice! Just grabbed my locking pliers, locked them straight out from the hub solidly onto the cap straight, gave it a "don't freak out" big time jiggle, and off they pop'd! Thank you! - AB
