Dry Camping

I don't know any place on the Napa side but the east end parking lot may be OK since the chances of an official visit are negligible. The road may still require 4wd because of erosion. In April, the flowers will be magificent enough to hide the mountain biker blood stains.

Thanks, I have a 4wd truck and a high clearance teardrop, so that shouldn't be a problem. When you say east end parking lot, is there a name?

I've never seen a name for this trailhead but it is evident on a good map or the Napa outdoors website. Note that the east end of the Oathill Mine Road is quite close to Angwin and lots of great riding.

That would be the Aetna Springs trailhead. You could probably pull off an overnighter there. The road requires high clearance, but it's not as bad as it used to be.

Thanks. I do have a Tacoma and a high clearance teardrop. Am also looking into the Angwin area.

Just finished several days of raking the trails here in Angwin. Everything is riding really sweet right now. Unless you want to pay to camp at Bothe State Park, the Aetna Springs trailhead is probably your best bet for free camping. While not exactly legal...you shouldn't have a problem parking there overnight. Nobody goes there.
