I've had my Pug for a good few years and we've had FUN and a few changes along the way :)

BUT..........you know how it is, someone from Alaska (no names beginning with TS) starts riding something orange and shiney a few years ago and it sticks in your mind.

Then Dirt Dad starts building up a BLACK 2012 FB and I'm drooling.....

THEN Donkey goes and puts up a classified on MTBR and I'm POWERLESS to resist :D

Soooooo..... as spotted by my sharp eyed Friend MiniTrail, I've built up a new Ride.

Here is the storey (wordy and lots of Pix).

I bought a 2011 Large BLACK Fatback of Donkey who was willing to ship across to the UK (THANKS!)

The frame came with a few bits attached, SLX front Mech, Syntace P6 carbon seatpost and a Cane Creek 100 headset.

I wasn't sure what the 'theme' was going to be initially, but seeing it all in the flesh it became obvious.

First, simple uncluttered lines.
Second, Luminescent.
Third, practical.

So here are some initial PIx for your Patience

I initially wanted to go for a MAX FAT 100mm rim and BFL build.

After some careful measurement, the 2011 FB has impressive 122mm clearance, BUT the above combo comes in at 113-115mm; so any tyre wobble (NOT unusual for this size of rubber) and it may be rubber-du-dub time :(

So reality bites and I think about 80mm rims.

Just so happens I have an Unholy RD on the front of the Pug, built offset.

Dave at DC cycles sorts this out and a now symmetrically built RD is returned.

THIS is where the FUN starts :D

I bought some DRILLIUM !!!

I added variable amounts of drillium using my highly technical drilling template.

35mm/25mm holes alternating. Why this? Why not :)

I then added SOLAS reflective tape, backed with a Surly rim strip.

SHINEY

The rear wheel was an issue........here in the UK , the Salsa 170mm hub costs $318 !!!

However Ebay to the rescue and a GFS on a Salsa hub shipped to the UK for < the Hub price (UK).

MORE DRILLIUM added + Solas +Surly = MORE SHINEY.

Wheel Religious conversion completed

So what next ?

I'm a fan of Hopey steering dampers so top headset cup removed and Hopey in place.

The seatpost pretty much suggested it so Syntace Bar and Stem with Ergons.

Saddle Spec BG.

Brakes are Clarks hydraulic with Hope 185mm 'Saw' rotors.

Crankset RF with Truvative ISIS BB.

Shifters, Lx with braided outers and rear Mech SLX to match the front.

Rubber, Larry front ,BFL rear.

Mud guards , Grand Dad and Mom.

Seatpost guard, free from THE :D

Real world (with pedals, guards etc) weight as pictured.

Next RIDE pix.

Great job Doc,
The build and beach pics are excellent. My favorite is the 2nd beach pic. Well done.
