I put some SC down tube decals on my Hightower LT and am not happy with the results.

Are the words Santa Cruz that come from the factory "painted" onto/into the frame or are they in the protective film that the tube is wrapped with?

Should I have removed that wrapping first?

The letters on the new decal are raised and it leaves small air gaps around the letters that I couldn't fully remove.

Any insight / tips?

EDIT: it's a C frame.

Hmmm. I just did this on my alloy Chameleon. Aside from really taking your time and pulling stuff at 180° instead of away from the bike, the only other rec I have is to cover the new decals with some clear Racers tape. I had one of the "S" decals start to come off on my first trail ride. Covering with Racers tape has fixed that!
