Dave's Bike Fund:

David Nice's fixie Surly CrossCheck 29er was stolen during the Great Divide Race forcing him out! Dude had to also walk 35 miles to get to the nearest town. Oh yea, they got grizzly bears up in them thar hills too.

The Great Divide Race is a self-supported, solo competition following the 2,490-mile Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. Traversing Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico, the route demands over 200,000 feet of climbing along it's length. Competitors carry all equipment necessary to negotiate the backcountry, restocking on food and other supplies from the small towns along the route.

A fund has been setup by David's friend Scott Taylor at Salvagetti. Scott has already ordered lots of stuff out of his own pocket. If you can spare anything, even $5 point your PayPal donation to: Scott_at_salvagetti.com

This bike was his only means of transportation! Let's pull together to help out Dave. I put $20 in and I know a lot of rider out there carry that around in just sports gel alone. So any little bit helps, THANKS!

I want to help Dave; but, for the unenlightened, how do I do the pay pal thing to contribute to the fund to help Dave out.
Thanks for the help,
Wayne
If you don't already have a PayPal account, you'll need to go through a few steps to set it up: first to go paypal.com and create an account. Then you'll need to link your account to a funding source: a bank account or credit card account. In some cases this can take a couple of days.

If you do have a PayPal account, it's pretty easy: just click the "Send Money" button, and fill out the form with the recipient's email address, amount, type of transaction (Quasi-Cash in this case) and any other message you want to send with it.

I sent a donation as well but how about a running total or a percentage of a goal $$ amount so people can see how well we are doing as a collective group to help Dave.
At last report the fund has over $1200 in it. Lest anyone think that's too much, remember Dave had a bunch of gear stolen with his bike, which will cost some additional money to replace.
