I do not know much about building or the parts required.
Current parts are mostly shimano alivio.. Id like some type of of an upgrade.

Brakes!

A Sram rear derailleur needs a Sram shifter. Best not to mix 9 and 10 speed parts unless you know what your doing.

Save your money. Watch CL and buy a new second hand bike. I wouldn't upgrade that bike YMMV

Avid Codes are a lot of brakes used for downhill or all mountain type riding.
