It came inside the box for a new Shimano 11 speed right mtb shifter. It is possible that this part doesn't belong and just fell into the box, I put a penny next to it for size reference.

On the other side of that part, it says SS530 RDG

It looks like it could be a spare link for a SS chain, but the size of it looks considerably bigger.
