Sometimes I wear mittens instead of gloves, in the winter, in Alaska.

Been riding off and on for approximately 30 years. Used to do probably 70/30 road to MTB. Now I've been doing mostly mountain biking. I always, always, always wear gloves. Usually the fingerless variety because I now ride mostly in warmer weather. However, in my younger days I'd go out in the winter in New England, so then it was winter style bike gloves.

As for what type of mountain biking I currently do - 100% cross country trails/single track. I've had my current mountain bike for about a year, and I don't think the tires have touched pavement once.

Fingerless gloves belong with neon spandex, 150mm stems, bare Styrofoam helmets and no stand-over height.

"I wear gloves on every ride" on trails
"I wear gloves on some rides (not all)" on gravel

"Enduro" yes
"Trail" yes
"XC" yes
"Downhill" yes
"Road" yes, but just occasional goofing around
"(anything else)" occasional gravel

"Where you live" Texas. But more importantly, where all do I ride? Europe aside, the U.S. southwest.

Full finger gloves, every ride. I don't know why people to choose to ride without gloves, I could never do it. But to each their own.

Always.
Full finger.
Every season. I have at least 5 pairs for different conditions.
XC, AM, fatbiking, road, path

Riding my cruiser is more like drinking and less like biking, so I'm not counting that. :)

I’ve wore fingerless gloves exclusively [during the warm months] for 21 years paired with baggy shorts for that long. Have I been doing it wrong? 🤣

Walk off shame head down....

All the time. Both road and MTB.

For a while it has been trendy on the road to not wear gloves, but I don't get it. I have crashed enough over the years to know I will never risk riding on the road without gloves.

I came to mtb from riding dual sport (mostly off-road) motorcycles, so riding without gloves feels weird. Actually, I'm still wearing some old lightweight Klim trail (summer) gloves when I ride mtb. They are minimalist for a motorcycle but good for bicycles.

Short fingers on road bike -to dampen vibrations reduce palm fatigue protect palms if crashing

long fingers on MTB not much cushion on long finger glove but the help with trail chatter scratch protection for front and palm protection for falls
