I guess I don't like putting on funky gear. I throw my gloves and pads in the wash with my shorts and jersey after each ride. I stick the pads and gloves in a mesh bag before putting them in the wash though to try to make them last a little longer. I even hose down my helmet and wash the straps and back (the part that touches my back) on my backpack. My wife is more likely to overlook my riding crap lying around the house (strategically placed for my convenience, of course) when it doesn't smell like a dirty gymnasium. :)

Wash in the washing machine, air dry and then febreze the crap out of them. Still lasting after two years. Plus they feel so good after a good wash and fit nice and tight again.

I would watch out with not washing your pads guys. When I used to downhill I had a real cool pair of leg guards that wrapped around my legs. Well about mid summer I got a nasty infection in the hair follicles on my legs and it was brutally painful. Doc said it was from grime on my pads forced into the follicles.

Fox Launch knee/shin - every other use (hand wash w/ detergent)

Helmet - every couple of weeks (hand wash w/ detergent)

Dakine pack - every month or so (washing machine)

desert states are hot and I sweat. I am funky enough as it is, I don't need to smell those funky pads.

No, but my girlfried does.

I would probably wash them once every year or so if left to me, but my girlfriend washes them often.

Our Dainese 3X pads have held up awesomely!! We use them on every ride, even XC, and wash them a lot, and not a strap or stitch has come loose in 2 years.
