Has anyone had any success making their own lights?
I priced some hid kits and they start around $230.
After I stopped laughing at the price one of my coworkers jokingly
said to pull a fog lamp off his jeep and strap it to the handlebars.
I told him thats not a bad idea, i've seen lots of fog lamps that are the exact
size of these lighting kits. The only problem is finding a battery.
Ideas?

I don't have one of those but you can get one from Nightsun for $20.

If you had the right connector, you could use any 12-18V wall wort. You would just need to adjust the charge time based of the current rating.

However, I much prefer the smart chargers because it eliminates the risks of over or under charging. You can get a good universal charger like the Maha MH-C777 for about $45. You can use it for your bike light, AA and any other NiCad or NiMH batteries up to 13.2V. I have a couple of these and they work great.
