Disc Brake Conversion? Brake Therapy?

Anyone used the Brake Therapy Disc Brake Conversion kit? I have a Gary Fisher Tassajara with no disc mounts. Thinking of putting Juicy 7's on, but no bosses=no brakes. Any experience with the conversion kit? Looks like it may stress the v-brake boss more than I'd like to but what do i know. Also how does the caliper mount to my hub?

Break Therapy Works Great

I used Hope's Disc adapter which is basically their own version of Brake Therapy and I had no issues with it.

As to mounting to your hub you may need a new hub if yours sint disc compatable.

Do you mean the rotor? The caliper mounts to the bike using the kits you discussed. The rotor is a different story.

Unless you have wheels that are ready for discs, you'll need a new wheelset. The hubs must be designed for disc brakes.... and the rim, too. You need a place to mount the rotor

Don't forget to add the price of a new wheelset to your costs.

Also, do you have seperate shifters and brake levers, or do you have the combo shift lever / derailler shifter? If you have a combo, then you'll need to get new shifters since you will have to replace the current brake levers with the Juicy Hydro levers. You can avoid that if you use mechanical disk brakes.

It's getting very expensive.

I got this from Specialized via my LBS. It's an adaptor for bikes that don't have a mount for rear disc brake. I'm not sure if this thing only fits Specialized bikes. My bike is a Specialized Enduro FSR (I dunno what year; I bought it used). If memory serves me right, the Brake Therapy rig is major bucks. This adaptor was $50--still pretty $$$ for a piece of metal!
