Hey guys,

Forgive my ignorance, but are the direct mount chainring interfaces compatible or not with each other?
IE SRAM, Wolftooth, Raceface?

I ask because I'm hoping to go with the Raceface Next SL crank for my next fatbike build. Wondering if I could use a Wolftooth or AbsoluteBlack ring or are those only made for the SRAM cranks?

Thanks,

Not compatible......

SRAM and RF use difference interfaces when it comes to direct mount rings.

SRAM, RF, White Industries ENO, Middleburn, Specialized... everyone uses a different interface. SRAM compatible is most widely available.

As for the 40/42 tooth add on for a 9 speed, It should work if it is spaced properly. I'm assuming the spacing between the last cog to the 40/42 tooth is set for 10 speed shifters, so you might need to add a little extra. Also, some that have the pickup ramps might not be aligned with older 9 speed cassettes; seeing that some are offering Shimano or SRAM specific 40/42 tooth cogs to match the ramps.
