I'll be in Los Banos for a few days and am thinking of taking a ride at Dinosaur Point. I have found a few reviews and maps, but nothing much. A search here didn't turn up much either.

Any chance of getting lost? Or is it fairly well marked? The weather is looking HOT, but my plan is for a late evening ride. It looks like a loop, but the reviews I have see talk about taking unmarked side trails.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

That area is officially called Pacheco State Park if you want to look up extra info.

I haven't been there for a year or so. There is a parking fee $4-6. The trails are unmarked, but everything is legal to ride. We normally ride the perimeter single tracks. Most everything through the center of the area is fireroad.

Keep your eyes open for wildlife. It's a great place for elk, pig, deer, coyotes, turkey and a mountain lion frequents the place too.

I wish I could be more help on trails and directions. Any way you go it gets steep for a little while.

You can't really get lost there, pick up a map at the parking kiosk and start by taking the boundry trail around clockwise... eventually you have to head into the center of the park and hit the fire roads... pretty much straight up and down the steeps parts of the hills.

Another option is to drive a bit further to the Bell Station entrance at Henry Coe. But you CAN get lost in there and it's really remote and rugged.

There are also some trails around Los Banos Res, which is closer to Los Banos but you kind of have to know where you're going or you can just explore, try to get back into the Baths area. You usually end up doing some fence jumping but there is some singletrack/cow trail and fireroad.
