Why? I first read something about this online months back but didn't think anything of it, but then a few weeks ago I was at an lbs that carries Specialized bikes and noticed that an Epic they had on display had what looked like a 27.2 seatpost. Don't tell me it's for weight reduction. The post looks puny on the bike, and not to mention the overall impression I got of the current Epic was that it looked cheap. I thought this was Specialized's top of the line model.

Meh,it may look puny but it works fine. " top of the line" it's a bit generic,was that an Sworks ?

From what I've herd the change was for comfort as the smaller post will flex a bit more and take the edge off trail chatter, especially on the hardtails.
