I just bought a new 2006 Specialized Rockhopper Comp Disk. I am just getting back into the sport after about 10 years. I bought the bike because I didnt want a cheap or super expensive bike. Did I make a good choice or should I have purchased a cheaper model? I figure this bike will carry me for another 3-5 years before I upgrade.

Nice choice

That's a very nice hardtail you bought. Will it last 5 years? I guess only time will tell, but i would imagine you'll probably replace and possibly upgrade parts as they wear out. For now, just get on your bike and ride!

Enjoy, and welcome to the forums.

Thanks for the input

Hey guys.

Thanks for the responses. I am happy with the choice I made. Unfortunately I cant ride yet b/c they had to order it from Specialized. Didnt have the frame in my size. Hopefully this week it will be ready to pick up. See you out on the mountain!!!

hey NUMTNBIKER, i just got a rockhopper comp disc too. its an '05 though, but i got a pretty sweet deal on it. i really like it so far, and it feels sturdy under my 225lb caboose. i'm also glad i decided to go w/ the disc brakes. you definitely notice a difference. my personal opinion is that it is a very capable xc bike, especially to learn on, and i'm happy w/ my purchase. :D i just wish i could find more time to ride.

Hey Biggsmoothe

Good to hear that it's a great bike. I heard that disk brakes make such a difference. I weigh about 195lbs and want to be able to stop quickly. I can't wait to get on the mountain and ride. I'm drooling listening to everyone recapping their days of riding. I should have it this week. BANZAI
