your bike will sit like a dirt bike, because of the headtube being so high, and the angle youll be at. and the haedtube will eventually crack or even snap do to the stress from the fork.
i dont think your supposed to exceed 150mm or somehting like that on those.
but if your getting a new frame and dont care about the response than i say whatever.

by sitting like a dirt bike how much higher are we talking from the axle to the frist crown do you know the length or do you know how i can finde the length

i just cant picture the headtube cracking or snaping off ... if you could please explain how so much stress is put on the headtube of the bike.

150 actuly 120 voids the worenty sense it comes with 120 and diamondback recomeds that i do not excede (but they have to say that) i do care about the respose i paid alot of money for it and i dont want to ruin it if i can avoid it

if you think that 150 is the maximum travle i can go with than what do you recomend?

I think the fork you're looking at costs more than your bike did. Not all bikes are created equal, and that rings true especially with machined tubing and welding techniques. The response was designed to be a shorter travel bike, which means the headtube was not reinforced enough to cope with the high stress that a dual crown or long travel fork exerts on it. I wouldn't do it, because the force put on the headtube by the dual crown fork will tear the headtube apart.

That's a Jamis Komodo that cracked with a SC fork on it. The Response is not as strong and the DC will put loads more stress on the headttube. It's very easy for a headtube to sheer off. Look up some pictures of ECH's p.bike and Soul Cycles. Both had the head tube rip right off.

The fork will also way slack out the angles. Steering will be sluggish, the front end will sit super high. The bottom bracket height will get jacked up. Center of gravity is higher. Standover height increases.

Actually, I'm pretty sure he knocked the DH-3 down to 6 inch, and the Devinci was a full susser. The Titan is more FR than DJ. I've seen another Titan end up like that with a Sherman Flick on the front end.

If those frames ended in such a manner, it's pretty clear what an aggressive XC frame with a Super T will end up like.

whell i have nerrowed my search down to 3 forks all under 150mm all single crown

but i still need help decieding what would be best for me

im not going to do anything over 6 foot drops jumping will be kept to a miniumum lots of faced paced downhill freerideing along with trail riding up hill and down hill

option one.

marzocchi drop off 3 $268
rebound adj
air preload adj
130mm travle
20mm axel

option two.

marzocchi all mountain 3 $207
tst 2 adj ?????
coil air combo
140mm travle
drop out axle

option three.

Marzocchi Z1 Sport RV $300
air preload
rv rebound adj
150mm travle
20mm axle

what one should i get do you know anything bad about any of these modles?

i dont have enough cash for the sport rv nore the drop offs because of the tax + the new hub i would have to get... so it would take me longer to get those where i could probubly get the all moutain for by the end of the week

edit: i paid 640 for the bike

They all have pretty cheesy damping, I think (but may be wrong) that rv means the same damping as drop-off. Which leaves the all mountain. A chum of mine has that exact fork and he seems to like it.

Yeah, RV damping is the lower-end side of things. It'll spike over the fast stuttery stuff. There are options other than Marzocchi...

Second the Rockshox Tora or Revelation.

TPC or TPC+ Manitou Sherman would also be a good option.

That bike is not a DH bike, start saving for a new frame.

tora has bad reveiws everything els cost to much ... i cant be supper picky cause i cant aford spectacular stuff

I rode a tuned Recon that was awesome. Maybe you could try to find one used. Oh, and btw, unless your hub is convertible to a 20mm, you're going to have to get a new one and your wheels relaced if you get a fork with a thru-axle. Just wanted to make sure you knew.

Reviews aren't everything. People are more inclined to write a review when they have complaints rather than praise. The MoCo damping in the Tora is the same damping in the Pike and Reba. MoCo is where it's at.
