I just bought some brake pads for my mechanical deore disc brakes, and after I installed them the disc keeps rubbing on the brake. I tried to take them off and adjust them but the disc keeps rubbing on the pad, slowing me down. Does anyone have advice on how I can adjust the pad to make the disc ride free? thanks

You need to make sure the cable has some slack in it before installing the pads. Perhaps disconect it at the lever first so you can see if this is your problem. You can then adjust it at the lever and at the caliper: use the cable adjuster on the caliper to get .2 -.4mm of space between the outer pad and the rotor. You also need to back off the (inner) pad adjusting screw so there is also .2 - .4mm between the inner pad and the rotor.

Here are Shimano's service instruction for the 515s. The replacing pads section is on the lower right hand.
