Kathi M and I just got back from three days riding on the Denali hwy. Temperatures were in the 20s Sunday and from 15 to -15 Monday and Tuesday. Trail was a little loose but ridable Sunday and hard packed after it cooled off. Woke up Monday morning to wolves howling not far from our bivy and saw caribou, moose and believe it or not sunshine for the next two days. The Little People were really good to us!!!! The scenery and 100+ miles of good riding were enough to take us back there soon I am sure.

Thanks for the report. How was the snowmachine traffic out there? Sounds like an amazing trip. How far in did you make it, I've always thought that the area around the Big Su must be really pretty in the winter.

The trails in Anchorage are rock hard. Ice here and there and the roads are a nightmare, but the trails are really nice. Can't wait to get out of town for some riding.

Hey Adam
Only saw a few machines and most were trappers or musher support not the go fast crowd. They don't frequent the hwy I was told. The mushers were all friendly. We went to the hill overlooking the Big Su crossing about 54 miles from the parking. I am going to check with a musher friend who was going to Petersville to check out the trails there too but I know it would be dangerous up there on a weekend. If things don't change around here I expect we will be back up on the Denali hwy soon. Happy Holidays

Pat's civic duty

Bill, I just got thru with a trial (not my own) Thursday and it was a very good experience. I feel pretty good about doing my duty on the jury. Now, it's time to ride. What're the ride plans in the near future?

We close our retail shop here at Kaladi Dec. 30th, then hopefully I'll be free to ride more. Let me know what's planned.

Nice pictures

Great lighting with these short days though you have to get up early now because we've gained what, 15 seconds of daylight? Happy holidays all. Hey Pat, come on out to the valley tomorrow Christmas eve morning. Bill M and Kathi M are coming out to ride some great new trails (well, mostly new to me). I have been exploring them lately, and one takes you way up on the mountain side with killer views and great downhill.Trail is in good shape. Meeting at my house at 11 am call 745-2453 for directions.

Happy New Year!

Greeting to everyone. I trust Santa was good to everyone???

Mark, sorry we missed the ride. As a present to myself, I stayed away from anything electronical with the word computer in it until today. I think I'll give myself another present soon....

Kathy, Adam, Mike Morganson and myself did a last minute 6hr ride on the trail from Knik yesterday (Mon) and I must say the trail doesn't get any better. Let's hope it stays that way for a while.

So we're open to any rides coming up so please keep us in the loop.

Happy New Year everyone!

Saw your tracks...

on 8 mile lake. I rode out from Knik to FlatHorn Lake and back yesterday, great conditions, 20 degrees and sunny, hard and fast to Little Su, then a bit sugary over a hard base to FlatHorn. Talked to a musher friend who said he ran into you guys out there. Also saw Pete Basinger who was heading out for an overnighter and Bill and Kathi M were in the area as well searching out the elusive "FlatHorn Direct" route.

New Year's Eve campout anyone? We found a nice place to camp high above the valley between Palmer FishHook and Buffalo Mine road with panoramic views, sheltered grove of spruce trees and lots of firewood. It's about 6 miles in from the trailhead on Wendt Rd in Sun Valley estates. Biil and KathiM and myself are in so far. Should have a great view of all the fireworks at midnight.

Hey Pat and all,

If anyone wants in on the new route I found just let me know. Great trail for Kathi M with her new frame and 5.0 Megamorphs but way too soft for anything less.
I hope some of you can join us for a biking New Years eve. It is a beautiful spot above tree line. Everyone will have to put their pedals in a lock box until morning so they are not tempted to do the killer downhill after too much hot chocolate. Anyone interested can follow us up to the trailhead if you would like and your rig will go slow enough to follow our hippie van.
Happy Holidays to all
Bill and Kathi M
