Demo safe on the weekdays?

Anyone ride Demo during the week? Is it usually crowded?

My car has gotten broken into before and it sucks, so I'm a bit more paranoid than most people, I guess..

Totally not safe. Just don't leave ANYTHING visible in the car. Nothing. Your chances of getting robbed go down if they can't see anything to steal. My car was broken into to get a diaper bag. Another car in the lot wasn't hit. No visible bags, just a bike pump and some clothes. They're looking for valuables and electronics, which are almost always kept in bags. And they are much more active on uncrowded weekdays. Why? They're a bunch of pu$$ys and know they'd get the beatdown of the century if they were caught.
along with K-max comments above - if you leave no bags or valuables visible in your vehicle (I leave my window down, but alarm on), your chances of getting hit are nil ...

i used to ride there almost everyday and never had a problem ... once, a car next to mine got smashed windows and an iPod stolen (they left it on the seat in plain sight), while mine was untouched.
bring your spare clothes in a safeway bag (or nothing) and don't leave any bags in sight - you will be fine ...
Why in the world, for all those years, nobody is caught and prosecuted? Too hard to make a sting? I guess all the cops and rangers are too busy writing speeding tickets and chasing bikes on "illegal" trails.
I'll set up a sting. Can I use your car? ;)
We rode out there last Sunday, and 3 of the guys got to the lot first. As they were sitting and chatting a meth-head drove in, parked then moved and parked again, got out walked all around the lot, then drove off. From their account it was a guy obviously in the wrong place.

I'm sure they'll read this thread and post up more detail. I was not a witness and saw nothing.
Believe it or not, MidPen seems to be patrolling the parking lot. We saw them at around 6pm the previous Sunday.

If you saw them, crackheads saw them to. They will return when there is nobody around. Since the problem is not addressed in many years, it is obviously not a deterrent.

+1 on that.
This is good policy everywhere a person parks. Economy is down = crime is up.
IIRC, Mt. View recently issued a caution statement to the public after a rash of smash & grabs were reported in downtown parking lots. Another Bay Area agency has officers placing Post-It notes on car windshields when the officer sees valuables in plain view.

I've never seen any rangers in Demo, that's Cal Fire's turf.

That's probably why there aren't too many problems with cars parked at Nisene. The rangers pack heat and the fire dept just has radios.
