I have recently moved to Mexico for 3 months and after my first week of riding here i have had to patch my tire 12 times from being attacked by various cacti! will going tubeless stop getting all these flats? and inorder to change do i need new rims or just tires? also what tape/sealant works best? Thanks for your help.

There are 2 Mavic Crossmax disk, 1 Mavic 317 disk and 1 Alexrims DM18

I use duct tape on the outside of my tires for a seal, it is real hard to get it sealed at first but when you are done you get real good looking silver walled tires. It is best to put a few layers on as the join is a very weak point in this design.

Crossmax are already UST rims...just need the valve stems. They will work pretty much 100% with UST or Tubeless Ready tires.

As far as the other two rims, check out "Ghetto Tubeless" and "Gorilla Tape Tubeless" on Youtube.

Ok thanks mtnbiker72, I had no idea they were UST. The bike with the other rims is my back up bike anyways so I probably won't bother.

So I need a valve stem but does that mean that rimstrips won't be necessary? Also do you think it will work with normal Hutchinson Toros?

CrossRide's are not UST rims, you will need to use Stans rim strips or some sort of Ghetto system...see previous links in this thread
