Dear Blur owners with F100X

How does this combo ride? Is the F100X a good match for the VPP rear? Any compromises in small bump compliance or is it still "Fox-plush?"

Bottomline: is it worth the extra $$$ to get the F100X over the FLOAT?

Also, what rear shocks are you running with the F100X?

P.S.
I posted this in the Shocks forum:

What is the performance difference between these two forks? Is the Terralogic on the F100X a big enough performance improvement to justify spending more $$$? If money weren't a consideration, is the F100X really a better fork?

I've no way of test riding them, so I need real-world advice from those who have.

The fork will be for a Blur, built as an all-around trailbike [no plans to race at this time] with a road ride [10-15kms] to the trailhead.

Thanks in advance.

99% sure for you to give a go!

Been riding this combo of F100X and small size blur since Feb. I'm 140lbs and 1.6M tall. My riding consist of 60% on fire road (To trail head) and others in the dirt, and most of it is some DH single track with people riding Foes Mono or V19s, so you get the idea...

The F100X is a nice match to ALL XC, trail type bikes which match the travel. Just BELIEVE what the reviews said, it's totally locked out when you want it to, and IT IS EXACTLY working like the Float when it hits the smallest bump. IT WORTH twice the money you're paying! When I'm riding on fire roads, not matter how hard I stand and spin and push and hammer, it just won't compress! It's locked no matter how hard I hammer, but when the road get a little bumpy, like you hit a small crack on the pavement, the lock-out just turned off automatically without noticing you, amazing! I think the F100X is the perfect match for 99% of blur owners.

The other 1%, like myself, would consider a fork like the TALAS with travel adjustment. I am now running a TALAS RL after nearly 6months with the F100X, because the 120mm travel up front is giving me much more fun on the downhill, and when I'm climbing in the dirts, I just reduce the travel to 85mm and hammer away with a little bob which I can live with, and lock it out when I'm travelling on fire road. For me, I think the both the TALAS and the F100X would be the perfect match for the blur, and I am going to use both of them, TALAS for most of my riding and the F100X for some local XC races and some serious long epic rides.

P.S. Running a TALAS on the blur will void the warranty since the blur is design for forks under 101mm travel.

I'm also running the F100X fork with a 5th element in the back. It's a great fork and I have never been so much out of the saddle since I got it. But like Ernest, I think the Blur will ride better with a 125mm fork. I think the front end is to low with a 100mm fork, which makes it a bit nervous on the downhills. I'm getting the new Maverick single crown fork, which I think will be perfect for the Blur. I would have bought the DUC32, but you can only get a 105mm stem and I need a 120mm stem.
If you are going to race the bike the terralogic fork is perfect, but it doesn't have the smoothness that a full active fork has. You will feel the first bump. If you use your bike at low temperatures <5 degreeC, the fork will have a harder time opening, because the oil gets thicker.

I'm doing Marathon races and trail rding now and don't do XC races that much, so I will be in the saddle most of the time, so I don't need the lockout.

FYI - before I bought my Maverick ML7 / DUC32 I rode a 120mm stem on a Rocky Mtn Instinct. My Maverick has a top tube that is 1/2" longer, but I am really comfortable using the 90mm Maverick stem and it is just right. See if you can take it for a test ride somewhere, you don't want to run a long stem with it. That said, I think there is an aftermarket company (search mtbr forums) who makes stems for the DUC32.
