Ok complete build will be about 24 lbs. Without cable housing, but with a full chain without any links taken out and an uncut steerer tube the bike is 24.05 lbs on my digital scale. Everything was hung on the bike prior to weighing even though parts were or were not in the right spot.

2005 Reba Race
XTR crankset
XTR rear der.
XTR front der.
SRAM Rocket triggers (thought I would try them, because I may go to X0 soon.)
Hope Mono Minis with two piece rotors
SRAM 990 cassette with the red alloy carrier
SRAM 990 chain
King ISO hubs
Bontrager Mustang rims
Specialized FastTrac rubber
Hope Skewers
Thomson stem
Bontrager XXX lite riser bar
King Headset
Thomson Post
Selle Italia saddle

As posted in my other thread, there is a clearance issue that I have with the Reba. I need to get a Ventana made race for the King headset Here is a close up of the problem area. I more than a bit sore about it...

Not too shabby! Definately looks worth the wait. I bet if you switched out to a non-poplock Reba you could fix your clearance issues?

Now go out and give it a good flogging.

the one thing this bike is really great in regard to, is tire clearance, there is over a 1/4" on each side, maybe 3/8".

Here is the complete bike, I haven't even removed the manual yet off of the fork leg yet.
I will hopefully finish the build tomorrow.

Nice arm chair!!!

No seriously, you must be stoked. Very nice.
Whats the deal with the carbon again, is it a sort of reinforcement for super-thin tubes?

That think looks fast.
Yeah, I guess the carbon acts to protect and to stiffen up the tubes after they thin them down. It is the lightest frame I have ever owned, 29er or not.

I will probably need a set back post, I don't think the length is enough for my torso. I thought that might be the case, but this is what I had on hand. I figured I would give it a try before I ordered another one.
Oh Darn!

Nice looking bike, but I would be totally pissed off with the Reba poploc / frame clearance problem, especially since you told them what you would be using.

Still, the headset spacer will fix it ...just a shame they didn't listen to and follow your specs closely enough.. :(

Love the Ti ... :)

The part that makes me want to send it back is the clearance, I was really specific about it. I just know that one good wreck and there will be a crease in the down tube. I gotta get that Ventana race that will space it out a bit so the fork won't hit. Hope they have them.
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!

Carbon is cool, but please explain to us dunces what the whole deal is...

Welds are amazing. Your taste in build-kit/parts is impeccable.

But I must agree that the lack of downtube clearance is total B.S.
Esp. if you discussed this pertinent fact with Dean. No Excuse. I feel for you, but everything else seems to be brilliant.

Enjoy

DT Clearance, look on the bright side

Hot bike, no doubt. And about that clearance, look on the bright side-at least it doesn't hit the carbon. And a taller fork crown race or (what I did) you could go with the cane creek "tallboy" lower headset cup and you should be in business. Others have had this problem and it's worked out OK, you will be too-if it's the only problem then I say "party on dude!", no biggie on a unique bike like this.
Great looking bike.

I hope to get a Ti bike one day but it will not be a Dean. Massive delays in delivery and then failing to listen to your specific instructions is unacceptable.

I think I read somewhere that Larry(Ventanrama) has some of the Ventana/King spacers in stock. It will fix the problem but its a shame you have to do it due to Deans mistake.

Be sure not to cut the steer tube too short. You will need more length with the taller crown race.

The real question is why did RockShox make the PopLoc so frickin' tall?

since you're only missing by a little i would just shave off some of that material from the fork

I thought about that, but what a pain, plus it will kill the resell value it is looks amateurish. I am hoping that the WB forks are sweet, if so I will be selling this Reba soon.

file it.

go ride.

besides - I can't see a "custom modified" fork has its resale value affected.
Is the derailer hanger really positioned BEHIND the rear axle there? If so, why?
Nice bike but I would get in touch with Dean and see if they will fix the DT clearance problem as you told them what fork you would use, and if I recall correctly, voiced your concerns about clearance when you ordered the frame. They should, at the very least, pay for the Ventana cup thingie.

I have a Dean Colonel. Same clearance issues. I have a Ventana 7mm spacer. I got my Ventana race about 2-weeks ago. In stock and took about a week to get it.

I have also swapped out Pop-Loc for the manual Loc. Chris at Speedgoat can provide the parts. In my case, I still barely clip the downtube with both mods installed. This is a problem common to many 29ers and even some 26" bikes.

Cane Creek also makes a tall lower cup for the S2/6/8 that has the same effect as the Ventana race. Woodman headsets have a 18+ mm lower height (13.7mm for CK).

What pisses me off - like you, I told Dean what fork I would be running and was assured there were NO clearance issues. I didn't install the fork until after owning the frame for several months.

I think the White will clear with no issues - I may try one of them. My Surly rigid fork definately clears.

Otherwise, the bikes ride nice.
