Hi All,

I have made a decision to get back into mountain biking again (been 20 years) and am looking at a used 09 Stumpjumper Elite from a reputable local shop (http://norcalcycling.com/) for $1800.

It's one of their demo bikes and I'm not sure if they offer any kind of warranty. Seems like this bike gives me a much higher quality set of components than a new bike (even last years model) would for the price. :???:

I'm 35 in pretty good shape, have a highly competitive nature and am an adrenaline junkie

I would really appreciate your advice or thoughts.

Thanks!

It's a nice bike with good components and would be great for you getting back in the sport with a very capable bike, but $1800 isn't the deal of a lifetime for used/demo bike, it's about the going rate.

A quick check of ebay completed auctions shows:
brand new 2009 size XL elite sold for $1650
2009 demo/test medium elite sold for $1850
2009 well taken care of medium elite sold for $1400

current auctions:
2009 demo/test medium elite for $1695 BIN
2009 super clean large elite for $1750 opening bid
2009 never ridden off road large elite for $1799 opening bid

Tell them you'll do $1600 out the door.

Well, they would not budge below a hundred and the Bike turned out to be really beat up. When I pointed that out they said that they were letting it go at cost.... but it was hella used, dirty chain, wheels out of true. what a bummer.

Off to goride I go.
