Nice.

Right now, Job #1 is DHR production. My engineer and I are working to drop some weight, beef up the only weak part of the frame that a full year of R&D exposed and bring the stiffness up a little higher in the crank area.
So, er, how's that going DT?
mtb123 wasn't there? Weaksauce.

BTW, Nice driveway Dave.

As a Brit Homer, currently on my 4th Turner, I certainly appreciate the UK-friendly (i.e. mud-unaffected) journal bearings!

Bearings on Specialized's, Kona's, Santa Cruz's etc just die in this climate. I occasionally give a squirt of fresh grease into my Turner zerk's and go off for a ride.

Last time I replaced the bearings on my SX Trail it cost me £80 (about $120)!

I fully agree. After all I am very influintial in the local scene and in the biking industry and to be slitted like that hurts me to the core. Thats okay though since I am still crusading for core riders like me that are being ignored by those smart guys that are actually in the bike industry, and not siting around on a stained couch all day trying to put a coherent thought together, like me.

Happy New Year Mr. Sinyard.

I must say, Mr. Sinyard, I am a big fan of your Body Geometry line of products. I can appreciate the amount of research and developement that goes into the products. It is some of the most comfortable gear and apperal that I have ever worn or used. That said, I got a closet full of these products and a spare parts bin full of saddles...etc.

Anyway, I'm writing this in regards to a pending lawsuit against Epic Desgns. I understand that in this day and age companies must diligently defend their trademarks, patents, and copyrights , but Mr. Sinyard this taking it too far ...IMO. Here is a man not unlike yourself who had an idea, a dream if you will. I don't think, nor is it reasonable to conclude, that Eric could corner the market with his bikepacking gear and lock Specialized out of potential profits. I understand that Specialized could develop and be quite successful with such a product line. However they/you are not. As an avid cyclist I demand these kinds of products and right now they are some of the best in the market. In a sense you would be responsible for limiting my access to products that I depend on if you continue with this frivolous lawsuit.

Stripping Eric of his right to use the work Epic is not unlike what Monster was doing to "Vermonster". I was a staunch supporter of the effort to thrart that injustice. I think you know the outcome here.

If you continue with this lawsuit, I will be boycotting your company. I am very influintial in the local scene and in the biking industry. If you proceed with the lawsuit, I will to the best of my ability rally others in this cause.

This is not a threat at all. I'm merely writing this in as a plea to you, Mr. Sinyard. Please cease and desist.

Sincerely,

Interesting quote:

"I try to make changes only when there is a definitive advantage, with the current case in point the dw-link that we introduced last year. It pedals better. I sell pedal bikes, so when I test rode an Ironhorse years ago, I knew that Dave Weagle had something others did not."

Does Mr Turner mean that? If so then why didn't he use DW-Link back then?

Are you trying to start a new controversy?

Why do you think he switched?

It takes time to transition to a new design. There are contracts to be negotiated, designs to engineer, protos to build and extensive testing for proof of concept. Would you rather he threw out the first, un-tested prototype?
Oh c'mon - it's funny! Horst Link was the best suspension out there bar none. Then TNT was just as good. And now we find out he preferred DW Link the whole time! Surely at some point you just have to laugh!

I actually own a Turner (RFX, since you ask - and I'm hanging on and hanging on and hanging on for a new one). But it's just a bike - neither it nor Turner Ltd nor Mr DT are perfect. And a Turner forum - as opposed to a Turner Appreciation Society - is just the place to point out bad as well as good as well as funny things, I would have thought...
The only thing I can think of is that it took some time. When both Specialized and Ellsworth were getting money from him he must have started to look for other options. IMO the TNT was a quick fix, place holder for Turner. Very few changes needed to be made and they bolted right up to the existing front tris.

Who knows when he started talking with DW. I can only imagine these things take time. Maybe he started talk ing to DW right when he switched to TNT. He only used TNT for a couple years. I can imagine it would take a couple years to develop a completely new bike.

What I want to know is why the RFX is taking so long? It seems a bit ridiculous. Can they only work on one bike at a time? They only have three models out right now and they are not seeing any changes. Surely even a small Co. can work on two project at once.

I wouldn't be surprised if DT set the release date so far down the road so people would stop bothering him. Maybe he will surprise us all and release it this Spring.

Amazing.
