HIked the entire ridge yesterday - way to much mud to ride. The initial climb yesterday on the north side was a mud pit, woud be very difficult to climb. Shaded areas are still snow covered. Needs more time.
It was pretty 'dern nice this morning.

Ride it early, like before 8. It won't be frozen as well as today since the forecast low is only 31.

Providing we dont get a lot of snow tomorrow, i think all these 40+ days may make it ridable this weekend. I was hoping to hit it on Sunday. We'll see.
I went up there this afternoon. Most of it was fine, there were a handful of muddy spots that I walked, and some snow in the usual areas (like the saddle area where Zorro merges with the main trail).

Overall, I'd say the conditions are still "sketchy". The weekend might be better.
"Spring" riding conditions

Did 2 laps yesterday, great fun, put all 4 inches of my Tazer VPP to work. Walked most of the really muddy/slushy parts, rode all the rest, totally worth it with a little common sense.
Are you guys going up Mathew/RedRocks side by I-70 or from the east side Green Mountian side?

MW/DR baby.

Again, ride it early.

from the West

Wed it was from the west or MW side.
I wouldn't expect Matthews Winters park to be ridable right now, I was actually planning on just doing Dakota ridge and taking the road back up to the top again. How is the ridge looking? Sounds like it will be pretty good this weekend.
From I-70 it looks good to go. I would suspect a couple of muddy spots and by zorro it is still snowy. I'm going to hit green mountain tomorrow super early. I hope that is will be frozen with the warmer temps.

I rode Dakota again today, it's fine. There's a handful of wet or snowy spots that you have to walk, but the majority of it is good.
Dakota Ridge is completely ridable...

However, I recommend only in the morning for a while. There was a lot of muddy sections, and soon to be muddy sections once the snow and slush give way to the mud.

Based on the condition of DR I went ahead and rode the road back from the red rocks entrance.
Going out to give it a whirl in a few. Anyone think it would be better to run it south to north and back out to avoid the first hill?

Yeah, I talked to a couple hikers about M/W, the consensus is that it is definitely more muddy than Dakota. It also visibly has more snow than the Ridge also.

Same here
Pretty damn nice out there today. A few really sloppy spots and too much snow on the stairs to ride UP them, sown was fun. I saw quite a few riders on the trail. !Thanks to all the concerned riders that told me how dumb I was for forgetting my helmet. Time to get all my gear back in ONE place.
Rode it Monday aftrernoon. The ridge isn't bad. The climb on Red Rocks Trail to Morrison Slide is good. But bottom line is, bike it early if ya want to really enjoy it, Still alot of mud!

I haven't ridden it yet, but talked to a couple of dudes yesterday afternoon who were literally covered in mud -- they had just done Dakota and it is not ready for a non-frozen ride yet!
