For prices check their website for suggested retail, then find a dealer and negotiate, 2006 are now arriving so you can expect clearance prices. They have 4 models for 2005. My advice get the 2.0 or 3.0. I have a 2004 2.0, bough the frame and fork, built it up from there. Great bike, suspension is very tuneable, for 2005 they upgraded the fork to a minute 3. Good climber and with the adjustable min 3, better . But she really shines going down, feels more than 5 inches, you can adjust the bottom out resistance and progressiveness of the shocks so it's great. I weight around 175 and have the settings soft and have never bottomed out Rails corners and feels very stable, because of the SPV, tracks the terrain very well at high speeds. I have a Spec enduro and the Jamis just feels more capable, the only two cons ( and they are relative) is bumpy terrain, when braking you can feel the rear suspension stiffening a little (at least compared to the enduro) not that it'a a big issue, friends of mine that do not have the expierence on fsr bikes do not notice it and you get used to it and adjust your technique. The other is that it has a bit low bottom braket, so if you ride technical semi-flats with many rocks, it can be a little tricky, on the other hand the low height adds to the stable feel and you learn to coordinate your pedaling in order to avoid obstacles. For 2006 they redesigned the rear triangle, I don't like it thou. The rear chain stay on mine (and many others 2004) craked, but it was replaced with a redesigned 2005, which looks more stout. Other that this, if you find a great deal go for it, as far as I'm concerned, nothing beats the price/parts/value ratio of the XLT.

Enjoy!!

Better hurry man.........

I just bought a 21" 2005 XLT and it was the 2nd to the last one in the states. Got the price down about 5% off. Very nice bike. I'll post pics when I get it finished (different brakes and wheels). Better ask the LBS and get them to check right then and there if Jamis has anymore in stock, as I know they may have one 21" left if at all ( for the XLT. They still may have the 1.0-3.0 still)

I love my 2005 XLT. For the money (around $1,400), you get a Fox Vanilla R fork, Fox Float shock, Hayes hydraulic brakes, Sram X7 shifters and derailleur, Truvativ Hussfelt crankset and other little things you usually don't see on bikes until the $2,000 mark.

I weigh 260 lbs and after five months of abuse, except for a stiffer spring in the fork, i have had to do nothing to it, maintenance wise.

The only thing I can complain about the bike is that it's kind of heavy and wears me out more on climbs than my old hardtail, but the fun going down the hill makes it worth it.
I am picking up a brand new 17" 05 XLT on Monday, paid $998 at the local bike shop, they have 1 more 17" and 1 more 19" left.

Hey, how are those mallet working so far. I run flats on all my bikes and was planning on trying clippless. I'm looking at the mallet because of the platform/clip mix. Do they work ok?

they're great man! i like the platform part of it, if you are going to a technical terrain kinda stuff, just un-clip on your ok.they're kinda cool lookin too :)
tomorrow I am hopefully headin down to Bakersfield and picking up either a 17 or 19 inch xlt. I can't wait. oh yeah, and how does that platfrom part of the pedals work? is it plastic clipped in to the pedal? or is it actually part of the pedal and made of aluminum. I can't remember from when I saw the bike in Fresno. I remember the mallets from my bro's warrior pro, just plastic clipped in, cracked after a very short while. the clip pedals were good, just the platfrom add-on sucked.
ok, never mind that, goin' to ontario to get it now. Jenson USA here I come! any recommendations on size? I'm 5'11"
ok good. I was thinkin about it cuz of the lower standover height, but I didn't want it to be too cramped either. thanx.
