Hi everyone,

I have just bought a cyclocross frame for commuting duties - a kinesis crosslight 5T 2010.

Am looking for wheels but can't seem to get any information on the rear hub spacing.

In general, do cyclocross bikes take road bikes wheels? ie 130mm?

i'm really hoping to be able to use a spare 29er wheelset i have lying around (135mm)

Thanks in advance!

Most cyclecross bikes use a road style wheel with a 130mm rear spacing. I know at the LBS I work at, we have cross bikes and road bikes with the same Mavic Ksyrium Race wheel sets. I can swap them around without issues if need be.

You will need to measure the rear dropouts to be accurate.

FWIW, I have a 130mm-spaced Gunnar Crosshairs and have used a 135mm XT hub in it for the past few years with no problems. I'd imagine this would work on most steel or Ti frames, not sure about aluminum or carbon.

I've also seen references to simple modifications that can be made to Shimano hubs to narrow them by a couple mm, but requires that you re-dish the wheel.
