Customer wants Profile cranks on a mountain bike with a single chain wheel. What is needed for this conversion? He would like to retain the 9 speed rear cogset. Are chain guides/tensioners necessary? I've got my hands on the Profile Euro cranks/bb and I'm working on the chainwheel, but didn't want to source it until I get some ideas here of what I need. Thanks for any help.

Just set it up in the middle ring position. The derailleur will take up the necessary slack.
I believe the Profile cranks are set for one chain wheel and use spacers to align the chainline. There is no spider included with the cranks; would this change the prognosis?

Oh, they're the BMX style ones. I suspect you'll be fine if they're running spacers. I suspect they're spaced similar to what a middle ring would be on a triple setup. I'll check the spacing on the ones on my BMX bike later this evening.

If anything, you could just pick up a spider from Profile...
