So I pulled the trigger on a cross check. Now I need to outfit it with components. I have already decided on a fixed/free surly wheelset and canti brakes.

The big question I have is handlebars. I have looked at the On One Midge bars, and have considered matching them up to Cane Creek SCR-5C levers. Has anyone tried this?

I plan to use it mostly for touring/commuting and the occasional dirt path along the way. Is the Midge a good idea for this?

Thanks in advance for any input!

I have a similar set up on my crosscheck and it works spledidly. Takes a boring trail and makes it fun and fast. Rides pavement comfortably and is the height of a one-bike-does-all philosophy. Here's a link to a little story about one-bike.

And some shots of my cranky check.

just click on the pitk-chur for the von-flickr stick'r
