Creaky Bottom Bracket on Peace 9er SS

I recently had my frame replaced by GT, because of a small crack. When i got the bike back from the shop the chain was way too tight and there is a very loud creak coming from the bottom bracket shell. I would normaly bring it back to the shop but it is 300 miles away.

The guy at the shop reccomended I get a new chain and grease up the shell. The eccentric bottom bracket is adjusted to the very tightest position to allow for the short chain to work - the new frame must have had longer stay's or they didn't replace the link they took out. I am thinking of upgrading the crank and with a Truvativ stylo 1.1 SS and a new single speed chain. I think I will be able to handle the swap-I have the tools.

Will the Stylo be a good upgrade? If installed correctly and greased up good will the new crank/bottom bracket and chain solve the problem.

Anyone else experience a creaky bottom bracket on their peace? If so how did you remedy it?

2008

It's a 2008 by the way.
Sounds like you need to remove the crankset and BB and grease/anti-seize the EBB, BB cup threads, and spindle interface. Re-torque everything to the correct specs.

This should eliminate the creaking

And replace the chain or add a link ... it might not be causing the creak, but then it might (tight spot actually pulls on the EBB), One thing's for sure, if you run it too tight for too long, nothing good will come of it.
