Creaking Noise

I'm getting some creaking noise on my 575 and my thoughts are it my be one of the pivots. Maybe the lower???

I've taken the seatpost out clean greased and re-installed. Also checked out the BB too.

Any suggestions or anyone have the same problem? Many thanks..

first things first...

you have to narrow down the source of the creak:
1. Does it happen when you are pedaling both on and off the saddle? If so, it isn't your saddle. If only when on the saddle (and not when standing and pedaling), then it probably is the seat post or the saddle rails (and not the BB, pedals or cranks).
2. While coasting, bounce up and down on the pedals to see if the suspension creaks (hit a couple of curbs just for kicks). If you can replicate the creaks while bouncing up and down and coasting, check all pivots for play. If none, tighten all pivots using a torque wrench to spec.
3. If you can replicate the creak while coasting and bouncing and it happens while you are standing and/or sitting and pedaling, it could be the bb, cranks or pedals. Check the pedal bearings for play, if none, take it off the crank, put on some flat pedals (or another set) and see if you can make it creak. If it still creaks, it isn't your pedals. Check your cranks next. Make sure the cranks are torqued to spec and that the bb bearings have no play. Test for the creak again, if it's still there, take out the crank and bb, use teflon tape and anti-sieze and reinstall and torque everything to spec.
4. If the noise is still there, check the rear wheel for bearing play. If none, check the spoke tension.
I once had a creak on my SS. I did all of the above, even brought a new XT crankset and BB and installed it, but the creak remained. It finally went away when I put on a new rear wheel. Upon closer inspection, I found that the drive side spokes have loosened over time (and SS use will do that to rear wheels) which was causing the creak. I tightened to the appropriate tension and everything was good again... Did I mention that I hate creaking?

months ago i found the source of a creak on my 575 in an unlikely spot - where the rear brake hose is zip-tied to the seat stay. the rubbing between the two caused by the suspension working was creating the squeak. drove me nuts looking for it.

Lower pivot bolts

My buddy had a similar creak on his 575 when cranking hard on the climbs. We found his lower main pivot bolt was a little loose. Removed, blue loctite and torqued it down to proper specs and no more noise. Check those bolts! You'll have to pull the crank arm to check the drive side. Good luck!
Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to throw it up on the stand and check out everything.
Do you run a Pike? I have a creak and am convinced its from the crown/stanchion area. The spring also makes a binding sound sometimes when its compressed a lot but that is different and really is of no bother.

Have you tried retightening your topcap? I had mine start doing that after a few rides with my firefly I loosened everything up retentioned it and the noise was gone.
I also had some creaks start after the first few rides because of some loose pivot bolts.

Starting from head to toe:
Stem clamp - grease and tighten, could be cracked
Loose headset - Do what desert Yeti said
Loose spokes - front or rear wheel
Loose BB
Cleat-pedal interface - Some time pedals creak like mofos
Seatpost clamp - If you still have the stock POS, change it for a HOPE QR
Seat rails - grease them
Loose pivots - check the pivots
Cable rub - check all cable for rubbing. Some make noise at the cable end
Cracked frame - check for hair line cracks

*** My bike is super quiet!!!

Creak and squeak still there

So I've gone through everything on the bike and recleaned all of the pivots and still have a creak and now also a squeak. Its hard to tell but the creaking happens when I am cranking on the pedals (like climbing) or hammering on a flat. The squeaking seems to happen when the suspension activates. The dealer I bought it from said they talked to Yeti and the suggesstion was to pull out the lower pivot, make sure the bearings where flush and grease the pivot.

Has anyone else had to do this?

I always thought that the Yeti bushing or bearing setups didn't require greasing of any kind.
Update on my earier post where I said I thought my creaking was comming from my Pike fork:.... Turned out to be the headset. Loosened stem bolts and cap screw, wiggled everthing into place, snugged up top cap then stem...NO MORE CREAKS :D

one of the most annoying creaks on my 575 was on of the der cables just making noise against the stop or whatever its called when i turned direction.
gotta say theres always a creak either on this bike or any ive ever had, the last two being high end frames and parts so what can i say......
Pull out all of the chainring bolts and apply grease to the threads and reassemble.
Thanks for the tips!
I've got that same creak/popping sound when mashing down also. I'll be checking that lower pivot point. Any specific lubricant we need to use for the pivots? Anything to stay away from?

Yup that will do it, sometimes the thomson elite stem with the king no thread set will make some noise on my turner, and once you re torque everything it goes away. Good to hear you found the problem.
