I am a beginner when it comes to swapping out components on my mtn bike. I have a gf 2009 v brake wahoo and i want to upgrade the crank set because i bent the left arm good. so rather than replace it i want to upgrade the whole thing.

I have one in mind from jenson "Shimano LX FC-M582 Crankset" but would like to know what u guys think. any help would be appreciated.

yes it will fit/work .. and its a good deal to boot ... it comes with the BB and spacers

look at the inside of your crankarm and see what length it is ... they offer those cranks in 170mm and 175mm ... get the same size you have now (probably 175)

if you are going to install it yourself you will need a hollowtech II BB wrench

You will need a couple more tools to remove your crankset/bb: a crank arm puller and a bottom bracket tool.

If you can't borrow some, they cost 15-20 bucks and you won't need them after changing to the lx 582. I don't know what an lbs would charge to remove them.
