Took a vicious hit on a pedal strike on a rock at speed which knocked the bike completely off line and almost bit it. Since then the pedal does not spin well at all. VERY stiff. Anyway to service this pedal?

Anybody have an idea what usually fails in the instance of a hard rock strike at speed (my partner said sparks FLEW)? Does the spindle get bent? or the bearings fail??

you probably bent the axle just enough to cause some friction, but not so much that it's obvious.

I've had rough bearings after a bent axle where I just replaced the axle and the bearings eventually loosened back up with no issues. Really depends on how tweaked they are.
