Yeah, well im pretty sure i tweaked the lowers on my DOT (Drop Off Tripple)singletrack said:You're actually kinda in luck, because now Zokie will offer you 05 dedicated thru-axle lowers as crash replacement. EIO got his for $90 I think. He did his in via a crash, they me even warrant yers as it's a JRA.
QR20- on 03/04 is pretty suspect, imo.
The tripple is standard axle, that's just scary on a big fork.Red Bull said:Yeah, well im pretty sure i tweaked the lowers on my DOT (Drop Off Tripple)
For real, the right stantion is about (or it appears, it might just be my eyes playing tricks on me...) 2mm forward... I could have sworn i heard my axle cracksingletrack said:The tripple is standard axle, that's just scary on a big fork.
For real, and then i can sell my bike for a little more to make it back up...COmtbiker12 said:That sucks man! Like Joel (singletrack) said, I'd bet that you can get 05 crash replacements or even warranty lowers for a good price. Hopefully you can get solid 20mm TA.![]()
Been there. Marzocchi warrantied them for me, but the 05 weren't out yet. Took them to my LBS and it was no problem after that. Its a known problem that is why the lowers were redesigned.xdbpxd said:I fliped my bike over yesterday to pack up in my car and found that my Super T is cracked in 2 places. On the Lower part of both stanchions where the 20mm quick realewas attaches are both cracked in half all the way through. I could not believe it. I tried calling Marz today but there tech support was already closed. Real shitty situation. Ill keep you posted on what happens but here are some pics.
If you look closely at the pics, you will notice he has the bolt/nut setup. They cracked because they were over torqued.Andrewpalooza said:Good thing that only the lowers are damaged, and it'll be fairly painless to get back riding again.
A mechanic told me that a lot of the problems with the QR20 system could be fixed by pulling off that bottom aluminum flap (not the one that actually touches the axle) and tightening the actual clamp to the fork lowers with a hex bolt and nut. I need to go to the hardware store and do this myself...I bought some shiny brass ones and buffed them up with a dremel so they were nice and blingin, but I am an idiot and guessed on the bolt size. So I need to go get some more. $1.04 at ACE vs. $30 to replace the clamps via Marzocchi. Supposedly the ACE method is stonger too.
I blew out the hub on mine, got an 04 super t.singletrack said:The tripple is standard axle, that's just scary on a big fork.
No worries man......Zoke will hook you up with 05's like mine.singletrack said:You're actually kinda in luck, because now Zokie will offer you 05 dedicated thru-axle lowers as crash replacement. EIO got his for $90 I think. He did his in via a crash, they me even warrant yers as it's a JRA.
