I can't make heads or tails of this. I don't know if I should take it to the shop. I have less than 150 miles on this bike I don't ever recall letting the chain grind against the BB. Any ides?

That's just the funny part though. I don't ever recall the chain dropping and I've hardly ever used my granny up front. :/

OK. Is the bike safe to ride? Will it develop into a crack or is the metal thicker in that area?

Definitely safe to ride. I cannot comment about the life of the area, but unless that's deep gouges i wouldnt worry. A little touch up pain if it cosmetically bothers you.

That's just a scratch. A black sharpie will be your friend here. Ride it and forget about it.
