Its time for everyone's favorite game - crack or scratch?!

This is on the sidewall of a bontrager carbon rim. Holding it in my hands it looks like a scratch but the way that it goes across the hole like that makes me wonder if it could be a crack. I'm going to take it to my lbs and have them look at it but I know how you guys love (or hate) to play this game so have at it.

Rims have spoke holes on the sidewall? Bontrager doesn't sound like they know how a bike wheel works.

That's a scratch. Do the quarter test. Tap the rim with a coin going back and forth over the "crack." You'll know if it's a crack by the change in sound.

Drill that hole out big enough to stick your finger in there. Then you'll be able to feel the edge of the crack/scratch and know for sure. Why leave room for doubt?

That hole is for the hot gases to escape during welding the carbon. I know these things. I smart.
