I want something to protect the bikes when they're on our two tray 1Up, behind our truck camper on roadtrips. I've read through older threads on here but wondered if anyone had got a newer suggestion.
  • I know tail light visibility is an issue, I've seen the Formosa or the Bike Jacket that might mitigate this. But the 2 bike Formosa looks too narrow up top and the Bike Jacket isn't cheap to cover two bikes
  • I know wind resistance is an issue, but it should be reasonably sheltered behind the camper and I can happily use a strap to ensure the rack is further secured to the hitch.
  • Needs to cope with 41" width at the bars and bikes that are up to 80.5" in total length
Anyone got other suggestions? No, I don't have sufficient space for internal storage of them.

A flapping cover can do damage pretty fast, so be wary.

I use these in the winter to at least protect the rotors from road grim/salt.

yeah, I'd probably stay away from a fabric cover for the risk of what a flapping cover will do to the bikes contained within. Cover when parked is one thing, while driving is something else entirely.

Hate to say it, but a small, enclosed utility trailer is probably better for this scenario.

I just ordered a Team Obsidian off Amazon but frankly using it would block my license plate and most of the taillights on my camper van which is going to invite a citation. So will just use it once I get to destination.

That was one of the models I'd considered. I decided to take a punt on the Formosa I linked above as at least the lights should be visible through it. I'm going to see how it fits and then maybe use one of the thin ratchet straps I keep in the truck to further constrain loose material and further secure the 1Up to the hitch - The 1Up not allowing a bolt through the receiver on the hitch is also one of my concerns from the extra wind resistance.
