I just put a GT marathon elite on layaway at performance last night. I am gonna go pay for it today and have em set it up.

I have never owned a REAL mtb before and I want to ride hard soon.

Anyone want to show me some good trails. I know they are around here I just don't know exactly where they are and i am not the solo adventurist type.

After about a day of learning about the sport I think i fall in the cross country class and will probably be catching some air but not dropping off any cliffs. You will not have to worry about me pussin out on a ride, I have guns and endurance, just never spent more than 150 on a bike before now. The bike was not cheap and I do not want it to be a waste so someone please drag me out to a god trail soon.

Peace
Mike

were is the starting point in the ortegas? i like more of the xc riding but willing to try something different at times. I also live in elsinore and have friends who also like finding new riding places.
when driving up the ortegas you make a right at the el cariso road but you stay on the pavement dont go down el cariso. u take that all the way til it forks and the road to the right is gated and its dirt. you ride that for like 3 miles or so then at one of the turn offs on the right there is a gnarly downhill trail that goes down the mountain. its 4 miles long and it drops down behind rice canyon middle school

I will have to give that a shot. I have been riding up el cariso rd from grand ave. and then riding down on days i get home early from work.
yea this trail make el cariso look like a baby hill. this trail is single track and very steep in some parts. it needs some cleaning up. but it is an awesome dh hill. you ride DH also?

I'm new to the sport and have not tried DH. I have a few friends that also recently got into the sport and we been to Santa Rosa Platue, Blue Jay and other fire trails in the Murrieta area but nothing to extreme. I have a Giant Trance, how would that hold up on this down hill trail?
It could do it u just wouldnt be able to go too fast down some parts. Some of the hills u wouldn't wanna go fast down though. They get very steep and very rutted. Haha. Some of the parts u would wanna walk down they are that steep.
I havent gone down the Ortegas yet but I am not against DH. I am building a DH rig right now.... until then Im rockin the Trance X2 everywhere. I normally ride Santa Rosa "Superman" and out at Vail..... I love going downhill and I love speed... most the people I ride with, ride XC...... Always looking to meet up with new riders.... I think Im going out to Sycamore in Riverside for the first time tomorrow morning.
oh nice man. tell me how it is. i wanna find more places by lake elsinore to do some downhilling. tell me how the trails are. and yea i am looking for more people to do downhill riding with.
Sycamore was awesome... very diverse riding which suprised me. Creek Crossings... a mini Moab rock section, singletrack, fireroad, some fast techish DH's....... had a blast. There are supposedly some trails over near Temescal Canyon High school that are supposed to be fun though more XC orientated.
oh nice thats cool. i gotta try that place out some time. yea my bike is too heavy for XC riding. i would die. haha

Schweet!! I am in Elsinore also and have been riding more and more solo which sucks......
For sure riding solo sucks. It would be great to hook up with some riders in the neighbor hood.
