Cooling for Swinger 3 Way Air?

591 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  EBasil
I've got a Manitou Swinger 3Way Air on my Intense 5.5, and I've noticed that it gets very hot during agressive trail riding. This affects both air pressure, IFP-pressure and oil viscosity/damping. Anybody know if it's possible to mount cooling ribs around the piggyback to help it dissipate heat better? I guess I'll bee needing something with a hole in the middle...

Sure it's possible. The cooling fin packs sold for 1/10scale electric RC cars will be setup for real close to that diameter, or you could call industrial supply houses and ask for aluminum "fin stock" which is corrugated aluminum sheet you could cut & wrap the shock with. It's used as a heatsink in aerospace applications fairly often.
