Ive got a Bianchi DISS SS(im riding Fixed right now) and im going to be getting new wheels for it sometime, and am toying with the idea of doing stans 650B rims instead of 26" Stans olympics, kinda want to do it just to do it and see what happens why not, but mostly dont want to because im building it pretty light and there are few options it seems on tires.

about how much weight would i gain? what are the lighter tire options out now?
oh yea..... im getting a 420g carbon fork with a 410mm A-C, will that clear a 650B?

Convince me.

Quasi's are the lightest right now(and grab nice around these parts), the RacingRalph are nice too, but heavier at 555g (claimed).
The carbon fork will fork just fine.

If the tires will fit, I think you should absolutely do it. I bet it would rip with Quasi's on Stan's rims...

The outer diameter of 650b tires is between 4 and 4.5 percent greater than a 26 tire of the same size.

The bigger wheels will roll the bumps easier and improve traction.

Without changing the gearing it will force you to ride a bit faster to maintain your cadence. The higher gearing is noticeable the first couple rides, but not a big difference in effort. Acceleration would be slightly slower, but once cadence is up to optimum, the higher speed brings the advantages of greater momentum for rougher sections and short climbs.

Add a tooth to the cog and final rear wheel drive ratio doesn't change much. With the same weight wheels and same final drive ratio, acceleration and climbing effort is virtually the same as 26 wheels when the trail is smooth and easier when rough.

im having you convince me right? never said i was all about it.

do you know for sure it would fit in this 410mm fork? its nothing like the WB,DT carbon forks, its like the ritchy,trigon,token fork.

somebody said something about 4% larger, seems like a small amount, is it really noticable? placebo?

I don't know whether you should do it or not, but the ZTR355 650's are really nice rims. I imagine the 26" olympics are also, and lighter.

If it it were my money, I'd go 650b if it will fit.
