I bought a 2009 bike that came with an old Fox TALAS III with 32mm stanchions. The TALAS adjustment doesn't work anymore and is stuck at 140mm, too much for my kid right now. I'd like to convert it to a simpler air piston with 120 mm travel. I've read that it might be possible to do but kinda complicated because the stanchions of the 140 mm TALAS are thicker than 100 or 120 mm forks. Do you guys know of an air piston that would work? Parts availably is another issue of course...

My other option is to buy individual o-rings and try to service the fork but I've read that the TALAS travel adjust is finicky so I'd prefer to get rid of that complexity altogether.

I had this done on 2008 Tala 36's and converted them to Floats.

Essentially, the Tala assembly was replaced for a Float air spring at the required length and pop it in. You also need a float air valve and cap to replace the the Tala's height adjustment knob. Your local suspension emporium might be able to help if they can get hold of an earlier air spring or cut one down to suit. The stanchion size is 32mm regardless of the length of the travel - 100mm, 120mm or 140mm etc.

It should be doable. Good luck.
