The new MTB chains use a different pin than all previous 10 speed road chains.
Never mind...found the posts!!nodaknat said:Has anyone tried a sram powerlink with the new shimano 10sp chains?
Are you sure? The Shimano technical instructions say to use the 10-speed 2 or 3 groove pin for the CN-HG94 chain. The 2 groove is the normal Dura-Ace pin as seen here...http://www.rei.com/product/764677.rockyuphill said:The new MTB chains use a different pin than all previous 10 speed road chains.
10 speed SRAM is Powerlock and is not a reusable item according to SRAM. KMC and Connex make a reusable link that works with Shimano chains.nodaknat said:Has anyone tried a sram powerlink with the new shimano 10sp chains?

# For Shimano HyperGlide (HG/HG-X) and InterGlide (IG) chains
# New generation 10-speed road (7901/7900/7801, 6701/6700/6600,5701/5600) and mountain (M980, HG94/74) chains use a permanent three-groove/guide connector pin
# 1st generation 10-speed (7800) chains required a single-groove/guide connector pin but are no longer available and should be replaced with a complete, new-gen chain
It's strange that the Shimano Technical Instructions for the HG94 and the instructions that come with the CN6600 for my road bike both point to either the 2 or 3 groove pin as correct. I've been using the 2 groove in the 6600 for several years.rockyuphill said:http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=9658&category=276
