I want an e-bike soooooooooo bad! Im a 23y/o mountain biker who works at a bicycle shop thats 15 miles away from home. Im not a morning person and I dont enjoy road biking so I drive to work every morning lol!!

Shouldnt I be commuting? Wouldnt that sound HARDCORE? lol

I guess its not exactly gonna sound HARDCORE if im commuting on an E bike lol but I feel stupid commuting to the shop, and an ebike would be sooooo fun for cruisin the hood!

There doesnt seem to be much traffic in this forum! I have questions though!

My limited research has lead me to believe that all kits are china "junk" Its just a fact, and it doesnt bother me. Supposedly the motors are all pretty decent with most kits, but the batteries and controls are usually the shady part. Am I correct with this?

I think I would prefer sealed lead acid batteries for my first attempt at this. Most of the ebay kits have lithium batteries that i simply KNOW are gonna be complete crap.

Should i put together my own conversion by buying individual pieces on ebay? How hard is that?

Are there any well known kits that I should be looking at?

HELP! TOo many options, so many of them look/sound like crap!

So I found another forum and got some solid reviews of the popular kits. I think I have decided what I want to get, but only if the price is right!

I really like the e-bikekit.com kit, and I am considering just buying the kit without the battery. I just found some references to a battery site that look like a great price for a (supposedly?) good product (link below). With the combinations that I am looking at now, I am looking to spend less than $900 for a complete system with a NICE battery!

Seems that the battery site and e-bikekit.com are well known and well established. I still want to poke around alot more until I make any serious moves.

ANy comments on my selection and mindset?

Complete e-bikes can have heavy frames. Most prefer to add an e-kit to their own light bike; be it road, mountain, cruiser, etc.
There are reputable kit dealers out there that provide customer service.
Ampedbikes is one that comes to mind.
Cyclone-usa.com has a good rep.
There are others and you will get plenty of opinions the endless-sphere site.
