Commuting tyres for wet roads

Hey guys and gals, looking for suggestions for some quality rubber to save my butt on our slippery streets. I pass trough the city center and early in the morning many of the streets have just gotten washed, which coupled with our polished-by-use tarmac make cornering sketchy. Emergency braking is an issue too.

Current tyres are stock Giant SX3 700x38c, made by Kenda. I feel the compound is too hard for wet surfaces, plus being a mountain biker I'm completely new to slick tyres.

Thanks in advance!

Continental GP5000 700x32c. Great traction, great rolling resistance, decent flat protection. They may make them larger than 32c, I have never checked.

Unfortunately they max out at 32mm. I'm familiar with their Black Chili compound though and it should work well in the conditions I mention. I will check for models avaliable in bigger sizes
Specialized "SawTooth" is a very good tire considering its appearance at first. 38 & 42mm and nice price.

I commute year-round in Seattle. I know wet roads. These tires have great traction in wet. Too bad they don't make them wider. Good luck in your search.
