Used to live in the Muskegon Whitehall area 22 years ago, been living in Lake Tahoe since I left Michigan, wondering about any riding from the Muskegon area north towards Traverse City? I would be there around May 12-19, so i am not sure about riding conditions right now either.
Any info would be appreciated.

Head up to Ludington on 31 till you get to US10. Head east about 10 miles till you get to the Timbercreek Campground, trailhead for the North Country Trail. Head north on the trail and do an out and back. Or go further north to M-55 and Hit Big M. You cant go wrong with either trail, it is some great riding. Maybe not lake tahoe great, but great riding nonetheless.

You can access the North Country trail at a few different locations. I've ridden the one mentioned above directly east from Ludington, also have ridden the access east on Route 20, and also at Nichols lake. They each have a little different flavor. Also Big M just south of Manistee has some really nice trails. The North Country trail actually cuts right thru the middle of the Big M trails.
